My acknowledgement…

I live and work on lək̓ʷəŋən people's sacred land, the ancestral and unceded territory of the lək̓ʷəŋən, WSÁNEĆ, and Local Nuu-chah-nulth Nations People, and I acknowledge them as the past, present, and future caretakers of this land. Being a steward of culture in the yoga, health and wellness industry, I am committed to upholding the values of collaboration and inclusivity in all I offer in this work.

Guru Baba Hari Dass's followers trained me. Baba Hari Dass emigrated from India to North America in 1971 to share his wisdom, knowledge, and Yoga experience. His teachings inspired the creation of several Yoga centers and retreat programs in Canada and the United States. I work earnestly to ensure that my classes honour the education I receive from my mentors and Baba Hari Dass's teachings.

I recognize that my ability to live where I do and have been offered the opportunity to learn and teach Yoga discipline is because of the privilege I have inherited as a white person through colonialism and colonization. I feel I have a responsibility to help dissolve white privilege, so I choose to:

  • ensure that my classes recognize where the knowledge and practice of Yoga come from,

  • acknowledge that where I live is the result of the colonization of Canada,

  • offer inclusion to every body - any gender, any age, any race, any ability or experience with Yoga,

  • foster an environment where every person feels safe in their practice,

  • strive to support POC and LGBTQIA2S+ people in my community

  • keep learning and growing, and know I will continue to make mistakes

  • continue to change as my understanding increases to take more impactful measures in my business and my daily practice

Follow our journey.
